Results

Millersville, Pa. - Dakota Kuhn, Brandon Vernalli and Shane Smith all notched impressive victories, but it wasn't enough for the Marauders against visiting York Tuesday evening in Pucillo Gymansium. The three accounted for all of Millersville's points in a 28-13 loss.

York (16-3-1), ranked No. 15 in Division III, scored the first 17 points of the dual before the 157-pound Kuhn defeated Danny Miller by an 11-5 decision. Vernalli, wrestling at 165 pounds, followed with a dominating 14-0 major decision over Trent Bond.

Then at 174 pounds, Smith did just what he's been doing all year. He took down Matt Heisey and pinned him to the mat for his team-leading 26th victory and 18th pin of the season. Smith needed just 1:01 to record the fall. Smith now ranks second in Division I in pins, trailing only Nebraska's Robert Kokesh by one.

The three wins in a row brought Millersville to within 17-13, but York notched two more major decisions and heavyweight James Laughlin edged Bradley Ladd 9-6 in a closely contested match.

Millersville falls to 2-9 overall with the loss.

The Marauders close out the regular season on Friday at home in the Battle of the Rupp Cup against Franklin & Marshall. Match time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
