East Stroudsburg, Pa. – Sophomore Sarah Bernhardt broke the Millersville record in the 50-yard butterfly but it was not enough to lift her squad as the Marauder women's swim team dropped just its second dual meet of the year, 155-107 to East Stroudsburg Saturday afternoon. MU is now 7-2 overall.
Bernhardt won the 50 butterfly with a time of 27.14 seconds, snapping Sheila Mellinger's previous record of 27.39 dating back to 1980. Bernhardt also notched first place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.90 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 1:01.12.
Arielle Walbert was the only other Marauder to pick up first-place finishes against the Warriors. Walbert claimed top honors in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.27 and finished first in the 200 backstroke in 2:19.79. Her 200 backstroke finish was almost four seconds faster than ESU's second-place finisher.
Capping off the day Walbert touched the wall in 2:20.43 for first place in the 200 individual medley.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Walbert, Samantha Strickler, Amie Mowery and Rebecca Anderson landed second place with a time of 1:59.00.
