
Marauders Take Care of Chatham for Second Time

Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville women's swim team closed out the regular season on a positive note—a 146-110 win over visiting Chatham Saturday afternoon in Pucillo Gymnasium. The Marauders wrapped up 2010-11 action with an 8-3 dual meet record.
The 200-medley relay kicked off the day's events with a first place finish. Arielle Walbert, Samantha Strickler, Sarah Bernhardt and Amanda Thomas touched the wall in 1:54.90.
Laura Castello, Amy Leiphart and Katelyn Brenner swept second through fourth places in the 1000-yard freestyle. Castello finished in 11:55.01 followed by Leiphart in 12:17.08 and Brenner in 12:21.95.
Millersville swept the top three spots in the 200-yard freestyle as well. Bernhardt clocked in at 2:00.62 for first place, Thomas finished in second with a time of 2:06.60 and Victoria DeTample clocked in at 2:07.10 for third. In the 100 backstroke Walbert finished second with a time of 1:04.59.
Strickler claimed top honors in the 100 breast stroke, and Courtney Wallace finished second with a season-best time of 1:13.90. In the 50 freestyle Thomas came away with a first-place finish, clocking in at 26.30 seconds. Rebecca Anderson finished third in 27.27 seconds.
Bernhardt also won the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.96. Adriana Rodriguez landed third in 58.80, followed by Anderson in fourth with a time of 59.91.
Strickler picked up another first-place finish when she swam a season-best 2:36.56 in the 200 breaststroke. Amie Mowery finished in third with a time of 2:29.54. Walbert and DeTample finished first and second, respectively, in the 500 freestyle with times of 5:35.31 and 5:50.45. It was a season best time for Walbert.
Bernhardt notched her third first-place finish in the 100 butterfly. She touched the wall in 1:01.06, three seconds ahead of Chatham's second-place finisher.
Saturday marked the final meet of the regular season for the Marauders, but many swimmers will be preparing for the PSAC Championships. Post-season swimming is set to begin on Feb. 16 at Mechanicsburg High School.
