Millersville Falls to East Stroudsburg, 14-7

Kelsey Schmoltze and Katie DiRico# combined for three goals and three assists as the Millersville women's lacrosse team dropped a 14-7 decision to East Stroudsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action Thursday. Millersville fell to 2-9, 1-6 PSAC East on the year, while the Warriors improved to 9-4, 5-3 PSAC East.

The duo of Molly O'Hara and Christine Bradley gave East Stroudsburg a 3-0 edge 16 minutes into the contest. O'Hara notched the first two goals while Bradley handed out both assists. Bradley then registered a goal of her own, which was unassisted.

Schmoltze put the Marauders on the scoreboard off a Brittney Long assist at 13:15. The Warriors countered with a goal a minute later, followed by an unassisted Liz Weekley goal.

O'Hara tacked on two more goals for East Stroudsburg, and Brianna Huynh chipped in one to end the half with a 6-3 Warrior edge.

East Stroudsburg opened the second period with three goals in nine minutes. The Marauders countered when Ashley Mogle registered a goal off a pass from DiRico at 18:12. The Warriors went on another three goal run that spanned just over five minutes before DiRico notched a goal with nine minutes on the clock. Mary Houtmann was credited with the assist.

The Warriors tallied two more goals in the final four minutes to solidify the win. Schmoltze found the back of the net with 19 seconds remaining but the Marauders were in too deep a hole.

O'Hara finished with five goals on the day, and Lindsey Moyer and Michelle Mangiaruga each added two goals and an assist. Maura Perrymond also registered two goals. Amanda Simms set aside seven shots for the Warriors.

Goalkeeper Courtney Haggerty recorded 12 saves on the day.

Millersville returns to action on Wednesday, April 21 when the squad hosts Kutztown for a PSAC East match-up. The game is set for 4 p.m.
