Millersville, Pa. – Bloomsburg opened Monday's PSAC Eastern Division women's lacrosse contest with Millersville on an eight-goal run and never looked back, handing the Marauderse a 20-6 loss. Millersville fell to 2-9, 1-6 PSAC East, while Bloomsburg improved to 10-4, 5-2 PSAC East on the year.
Allie Kakareka and Samantha King tallied three goals apiece in the Huskies opening run that spanned 15 minutes. Freshman
Brianna Huynh and senior
Liz Weekley recorded back-to-back goals to put the Marauders on the board.
Huynh's goal came at 14:52 off an assist from
Kelsey Schmoltze and Weekley's came two minutes later off a pass from
Katie DiRico.
Bloomsburg racked up three more goals and DiRico added an unassisted goal for Millersville as the squads went into halftime with an 11-3 score in the Huskies' favor.
Lindsey Babilon, Kakareka, and Samantha Mazzie notched three goals in three minutes to start the second period. Junior
Mary Houtmann took control at 21:50 and found the back of the net to bring the Marauders to four.
Bloomsburg went on its third three-goal unanswered run until Houtmann scored her second unassisted goal of the contest with 11 minutes remaining.
Morgan Mangiaruga got around Shelby Iezzi for a sixth Marauder goal, but the Huskies tacked on three more to secure the win.
Kakareka led all scorers with six goals and three assists. Mazzie chipped in four and King added three. Iezzi earned the victory, setting aside 10 shots.
Houtmann led Millersville with two goals off of three shots. DiRico added one and handed out an assist.

Courtney Haggerty recorded five saves on the day and
Madison Allan dismissed a season-high 11 shots.
The Marauders travel to East Stroudsburg on Thursday, April 15 for a 4 p.m. match-up.
