Indiana, Pa. – Sarah DeMaio and Alexa Lodovici combined for seven Indiana's (Pa.) 10 goals as the Crimson Hawks slid past Millersville 10-5 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover women's lacrosse action on Saturday. The Marauders fell to 2-8, while Indiana evened their record to 6-6 on the year.
After seven scoreless minutes,
Liz Weekley put Millersville on the board with the first goal of the game off a free position shot. DeMaio recorded her first goal just 1:55 later to even the score.
It was a defensive battle for the next 10 minutes as both teams could not muster a goal. Junior attack
Kelsey Schmoltze found the back of the net off an assist from
Ashley Mogle to put the Marauders on top 2-1 with 11 minutes to play in the half.
Lodovici registered the next two goals to give the Hawks a 3-2 edge over Millersville going into the break.
Opening up action in the second period, Indiana went on a four-goal run that spanned 10 minutes. The duo of
Morgan Mangiaruga and
Brittney Long got around goalkeeper Kaitlin Sterling as Mangiaruga notched Millersville's third goal.
Indiana countered with two more before Weekley chipped in two more goals of her own. Both of Weekely's goals, which came only 10 seconds apart, were off of free position shots. The Marauders could not find the back of the net for the remainder of the game, and Indiana added another goal for a final score of 10-5.
DeMaio finished with four goals and Lodovici with three, and Corinne Miller handed out two assists. Sterling recorded eight saves on the day.

Millersville returns to action on Monday, April 12 when the squad hosts Bloomsburg for a 4 p.m. match-up.
