Box Score

Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville men's soccer team scored early and often Tuesday evening in its win over non-conference opponent District of Columbia. The Marauders netted a season-high five goals and kept the Firebirds off the scoring sheet in their 5-0 victory.

Millersville (8-4-1) produced its highest single game goal total since scoring six against Shippensburg on Oct. 25, 2008. The Marauders controlled the first half on both ends of the pitch. UDC was unable to get any shots off until the final minutes of the half. The Marauders out-shot the Firebirds 15-3 in the first half. The shot count was extended to 26-9 in favor of Millersville at the end of regulation.

The Marauders scored their first goal in the seventh minute on a softly touched pass across the box from Matt Kadoch  to teammate Aaron Roland who put the ball in the back of the goal to put Millersville up, 1-0.

Seven minutes later Roland was back on the attack for the Marauders. Roland passed it to Pat Baffuto across the box with touch to allow Baffuto to extend the lead to 2-0.  Millersville took the two goal lead into half.

It didn't take long for the Marauders to start the second half off. The ball was in the air after bouncing off UDC defenders when Roland found his second goal of the evening and fourth of the season by heading it in over Firebird keeper Kyle Heatherinton for a 3-0 lead.

Freshman Andrew Dukes scored three minutes later off an Andrew Schuler pass to put Millersville in cruise control with a 4-0 lead and plenty of time to play. Dukes' 10th goal of the season set a Millersville record for most goals by a freshman.

Senior Kyle Loughlin finished the scoring spree for Millersville with a header past the UDC keeper to put the margin at five.

The Marauders return home on Wednesday, Oct. 27 when they take on Holy Family at 7 p.m.
