Bracket (133-HWT)
Bracket (125)
Millersville, Pa. - After competing in three dual meets in two days, the Millersville wrestling team decided to keep most of its top grapplers off the mats for the "Shorty" Hitchcock Memorial Classic hosted at Pucillo Gymnasium Sunday.
Heavyweight Chase Godfrey was the only regular to see action, and Kyle Toth (149), Zac Wawrzyniak-Bush (157) and Luke Walker (157) wrestled unattached.
Wawrzyniak-Bush made Millersville's deepest run through the bracket. He scored a fall at 2:49 against Elizabethtown's Matt Dobbs in the opening round. He dropped his second match, but battled through the consolation bracket, winning three matches by fall before falling Bryce Buler of Bloomsburg in a match that would have advanced him to the fourth-place bout.
Godfrey was also able to register a pair of victories, topping Shippensburg's Tyler Zittle 4-2 in the opening round. Godfrey fell in the second round, but picked up a 3-1 overtime win in the consolation round before being eliminated by Edinboro's Michael Horton.
Millersville returns to dual action on Jan. 22 with a tri-meet in Lexington, Va., against VMI and Davidson.
