Millersville Falters in Second Half

The Millersville women's lacrosse team trailed by just two at the half, but an 11-goal second half by homestanding Bloomsburg led to a 17-8 defeat for the Marauders.

Millersville (4-5, 1-5 PSAC East) was out-shot 30-12 by Bloomsburg (8-2, 5-1 PSAC East) in the second half alone. The quantity of shots led to the Huskies outscoring the Marauders 11-4 over the final 30 minutes.

The Marauders trailed just 6-4 at the break and opened the second half with a goal from Lindsay Toriello to cut the deficit to one. But Bloomsburg responded with four unanswered goals in a span of one minute and 38 seconds. Millersville would never recover.

Courtney Haggerty stopped a season high 18 shots but had 43 shots fired at her. The Marauders also committed 28 turnovers.

Liz Weekley led Millersville's scoring with two goals and two assists. Kelly Kemper and Katie DiRico also added two goals apiece. Toriello and Jackie Geiger scored Millersville's other two goals. Laura DeLuca led the team with nine ground balls.

Millersville will look to bounce back Tuesday at East Stroudsburg.
