Weekley Totals Nine Points as Marauders Race Past Kutztown

Box Score

Millersville, Pa. - Junior Liz Weekley totaled seven goals and two assists, leading the Millersville women's lacrosse team to a 17-6 PSAC Eastern Division victory over Kutztown Tuesday afternoon at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

Weekley's nine points matched a career high that she set just 13 days ago against Shippensburg. The seven goals were a season best and the third time in her career she has scored at least seven. She now has 120 career goals, moving her into fifth place on Millersville's all-time scoring list.

As a team, the Marauders snapped a four-game skid with the victory and boosted their record to 5-7 overall and 2-6 in league play.

Millersville out-shot Kutztown 42-17 in the game and caused 15 of Kutztown's 37 turnovers.

The game was never in doubt as Millersville scored first on a Katrina Segar goal just 4:19 into the contest. The Marauders ran off six straight to open the game and led 11-2 at the half. Weekley scored two in a row to close the half and then scored four consecutive goals in a 10 minute span in the second half.

Brittany Long also contributed three goals, one assist, four ground balls and two draw controls. Lindsay Toriello scored three times, and Katie DiRico added two goals and an assist. Segar scored twice and caused two turnovers.

Mary Houtmann and Kelly Kemper each tallied a pair of assists as well.

Millersville will look to string together victories on April 16 at West Chester. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
