Millersville, Pa. - Liz Weekley totaled three goals and two assists, but third-ranked Mercyhurst and its potent offense proved too much for the homestanding Marauders to handle as they fell, 20-10.
Mercyhurst (11-1) scored 13 goals in the first 30 minutes and led by 10 at the half. The Marauders (4-7), which has now dropped four in a row, trailed the entire game and received goals from just four players.
Millersville fell behind 5-0 before Brittany Long scored nearly 10 minutes into the contest. Weekley scored just one minute later to cut Mercyhurst's lead to 5-2. But the Lakers answered right back with two of their own and scored five times in the final 2:40 of the first half, including three times in the final minute.
The Marauders never recovered from Mercyhurst's flurry at the end of the first half, but Weekley,
Katie DiRico and
Katrina Segar all scored two goals on the second half.
Mercyhurst received four goals and three assists from Breanna Haggerty and four goals and two assist from Kristie Jennings.
The Marauders host Kutztown in a PSAC Eastern Division match-up on April 14 at 4 p.m.
