Marauders Even Record with Dominant Performance

The Millersville women's lacrosse team evened its record at 2-2 and earned its first PSAC Eastern Division win with a 13-3 rout of Kutztown Monday afternoon.

The Marauders received four goals from Liz Weekley, and Courtney Haggerty shut down the Golden Bears by making eight saves.Millersville out-shot Kutztown 35-19 and picked up 38 ground balls.

Weekley wasn't the only Marauder providing offense. Kelly Kemper totaled two goals and two assists. Jackie Geiger, Brittany Long and Katie DiRico also added two goals apiece. Mary Houtmann chipped in a pair of assists.

The game was never in doubt as the Marauders raced to a 7-0 lead with three goals from Weekley and two from DiRico before Kutztown cracked the scoring column with just 2:21 left in the first period. Millersville quickly put the contest out of reach, though as it scored four unanswered goals to start the second period.

Monday's contest was Millersville's first on the road, but the team returns to Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium on Thursday for a showdown against the nation's No. 1-ranked team and defending national champion, West Chester.  Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
