Box Score

Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville women's lacrosse team received four goals from Kelsey Schmoltze and three from Liz Weekley, but Bloomsburg rallied late to edge the Marauders 13-10 in the season opener at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

Bloomsburg (2-0, 1-0 PSAC East), which had already played one game this season, started quickly, scoring the first four goals of the game including two in the first 2:22 of the contest. But Millersville (0-1, 0-1 PSAC East) stormed back, and Weekley's goal at 29:36 knotted the game at 5-5.

Bloomsburg's Samantha King scored just before time expired in the first half, giving Bloomsburg a 6-5 lead at the break. Just over seven minutes into the second period, Weekley and King traded goals again, and Weekley struck for her third score, tying the game at 7-7. Bloomsburg, however, would scored three unanswered and five of the next six goals to pull away from Millersville.

Millersville was out-shot 38-29. Bloomsburg's Allison Ziants stopped 10 shots. Millersville's Courtney Haggerty recorded 17 saves including 11 in the second half.

Schmoltze's four goals were a career high. Kelly Kemper, Katie DiRico and Morgan Mangiaruga also added one goal apiece.

The Marauders return to action at Chyrst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Indiana (Pa.).
