Clarion, Pa. - Plagued by injuries, the Millersville wrestling squad suffered a pair of dual losses to Clarion and Duquesne is Saturday's tri-meet at Clarion.
The homestanding Golden Eagles topped the Marauders (5-4), 39-3 and the Duquesne, helped by two Millersville forfeits, came out on top, 25-21. Clarion also defeated Duquesne 40-3 during the tri-meet.
The final count against Clarion was hardly indicative of the matches. Five Marauders fell by narrow decisions.
John Andel at 125 fell 6-4. 149-pound
Mike Greck was edged 4-3, and #J.J. Lester# was topped 7-5 at 157. The Golden Eagles also gained 16 points in forfeits.
The lone Marauder to win his match was 174-pound
Shane Smith, who earned a 5-3 decision over Scott Joseph.
Against Duquesne, Millersville won four of the seven bouts contested and picked up a forfeit at 184. However, the forfeits at 197 and 285 gave the Dukes just enough for the win. At 133 pounds,
Sean Reed scored a pinfall at 2:02. Greck, Lester and Smith all earned decisions as well.
Millersville returns to Pucillo Gymnasium on Jan. 29 to take on York College. The action will be broadcast live on
