
Women's Swimming Opens 2008-09 Season with Pair of Dual Victories

Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville women's swimming team opened its 2008-09 campaign in grand style Saturday afternoon in Pucillo Natatorium by notching a pair of dual meet victories of Juniata and Cabrini.
The Marauders, now 11-4 in dual meets under head coach Kyle Almoney, defeated both opponents in convincing fashion. Millersville defeated Juniata 73-22 and Cabrini 71-24.
Highlighting the day was the 200-yard freestyle performance of freshman Brittany Neifert, who in her first-career race, swam a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship qualifying time of 2:02.34. Neifert also won the 100-yard freestyle.
Neifert was not the only Marauder freshmen to make an impact. Katelyn Schmittle took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.88 and finished second behind Neifert in the 100 free.
Amie Mowery, who was competing on the field hockey squad just one week ago, posted a time of 2:27.01 for first place in the 200-yard individual medley. She also placed second behind sophomore teammate Courtney Wallace in the 100-yard butterfly.
Millersville hosts York at Pucillo Natatorium on Nov. 14 at 6 p.m.
