Sarah Bomberger Faus graduated as one of three Millersville field hockey players to earn All-America status three times, and she accomplished that feat while contributing to the most successful run in program history.Â
Bomberger Faus’ play in the midfield helped Millersville to its first PSAC Championship game appearance in 26 years, three consecutive championship game appearances, a PSAC title in 2013, the program’s first Division II Tournament berth, and a national championship in 2014. She was a three-time All-PSAC East selection, earning first team recognition in 2013 and 2014.Â
From 2011-14, Bomberger Faus started 82 of 84 games, totaling 15 goals and 14 assists. A clutch performer consistently delivering in games with the highest stakes, Bomberger Faus scored five game-winning goals in Millersville’s ultra-successful 2013 and 2014 seasons. Bomberger Faus rarely left the field, playing more than 1,000 minutes in three consecutive seasons. Her ability to transition from offense to defense helped Millersville lead Division II in goals against average in 2013 and 2014.Â
In 2013, Bomberger Faus’ Marauders posted a 19-3 record, and she led the team with 23 points, scoring eight goals and seven assists. She scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over West Chester in the PSAC Semifinals, and she ended West Chester’s season eight days later, advancing Millersville to the NCAA Semifinals with the lone goal in another 1-0 win.Â
Named a team captain in 2014, Bomberger Faus played a vital role in a school-record 20 victories including three consecutive one-goal wins to close the NCAA Championship-winning campaign. She played a significant part of the season with a broken thumb and still managed to be named Synapse Sports All-America First Team.
Bomberger Faus, a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, graduated in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in applied engineering and technology management. Sarah and her husband, Corey, work for The Hess Agency in Manheim, Pa. They are the parents of a daughter, Melanie.Â
