Brittany Hartman finished her 16th season as the throwers coach in 2024-25 and has built the premier throwing program in the PSAC. A four-time USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year, Hartman has coached three NCAA champions, and her throwers have seized the top spots at the conference championships in the indoor weight throw and shot put and outdoor shot put, hammer and discus. Her hammer throwers won eight consecutive PSAC crowns from 2015-2023.
Hartman's first athlete to reach the podium at the NCAA Championships was in 2018 when Sunflower Greene became Millersville's first female track and field athlete to win an NCAA Division II championship when she took first place in the indoor shot put. Greene followed that by winning the shot put championship again in the 2019 indoor season. In 2023, Hannah Woelfling captured the NCAA Championship in the discus and finished as the national runner-up in the hammer throw.
The Millersville track and field team has finished in the top three at the PSAC Outdoor Championships nine times in the last 11 seasons, and Hartman's throwers are a big reason why. In 2023, Woelfling was named the field athlete of the meet and PSAC Field Athlete of the Year, setting PSAC records in the hammer and discus while winning both events and finishing as the runner-up in the shot put. The team won the 2022 PSAC Outdoor Championship with Woelfling and Aliyah Striver finishing 1-2 in the hammer, Woelfling winning the discus, and Striver finishing as the shot put runner-up. Woelfling was named the PSAC Championships MVP. The Marauders also finished as the PSAC runner-up in both 2018 and 2019. Both runs were sparked by Hartman's throwers scoring 62 of the team's 98 points in 2018 and 65 of 109 points in 2019. In 2024, Maddy Downs won the discus and finished second in the hammer while Sarah Hessler became the third Marauder to post All-PSAC finishes in three throwing events.
Hartman coached eight consecutive PSAC champions in the hammer throw, with Vanessa Hower winning the event in 2015 and 2016 and Greene taking first in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Woelfling carried on that tradition in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Her group has produced 40 All-PSAC honors at the outdoor championships since 2013. In 2017, Greene became Millersville's first-ever All-PSAC performer in the indoor shot put. Under Hartman's guidance, Greene set all-time PSAC records in the weight throw, indoor shot put, hammer and outdoor shot put, was named PSAC Field MVP five times and earned five All-America honors. Amanda Myers was a four-time national qualifier in the javelin and a three-time All-American. Aliyah Striver qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the shot put in 2019 and then went on to take Greene's place as the PSAC Indoor Championships Field Athlete of the Meet in 2020, winning both the shot put and the weight throw while Madison Martin took runner-up in the weight throw.
Under Hartman's direction, Striver became an All-American in both the indoor and outdoor shot put and was a two-time PSAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Meet. Including Woelfling, a Marauder thrower won an athlete of the meet award in five-straight outdoor championships three times in five seasons.
Hartman's throwers have landed USTFCCCA All-Atlantic Region recognition in nine consecutive seasons from 2017-2025.
Hartman, a 2008 graduate of Millersville, joined the track and field program as an assistant coach in the 2009-10 season. She previously served as a student assistant for the squad.
