Lock Haven, Pa. -Â For the second time this season,
Carly Gallagher was named PSAC East Athlete of the Week after averaging 12.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.3 steals per game for contests between Dec. 22 and Jan. 4 in which Millersville went 3-0 and pushed its overall record to 10-4 including 7-2 in PSAC play.
Gallagher earned some much needed rest on New Year's Eve in a 71-38 win against Goldey-Beacom but then led the team to a pair of important PSAC victories over the likes of Gannon and Clarion. In the Marauders dominant 57-31 win over the Golden Knights, the fifth-year senior poured in a game-high 18 points on 6-of-14 shooting including 2-for-6 from behind the arc as well as four makes in five attempts from the free throw line. She also registered seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in 33 minutes of action against the PSAC West power.
The East Stroudsburg, Pa., native followed that up with another game-high of 17 points in 23 minutes against the Golden Eagles and Millersville scored a season-high 79 points to just 54 by Clarion. The 5-9 guard was 6-of-10 from the field, 2-for-3 from 3-point land and made all three of her attempts from the charity stripe to go with three boards, three helpers and two steals. Gallagher turned the ball over just three times in the three contests. She is currently sixth in the conference in points per game (16.2) and is posting the best scoring numbers of her career with that average.
Gallagher received this honor for the first time in her career back on Dec. 8 and that story can be found
here.
The Marauders have won four straight and seven of their last eight after looking at a 3-3 mark on Nov. 30. They will travel to Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday and tip against the Mountain Cats is set for 5:30 p.m.
