Scott Weiser joined Andy Young's staff for 2014-15 as strength consultant for sprinters, jumpers and throwers.
Weiser previously served as the Millersville men and women's track and field head coach. He also served as an assistant with the Marauders beginning in January of 2008.
Weiser, a 1996 graduate of East Stroudsburg, made an immediate impact on the Millersville program in 2008, helping the Marauders send the largest contingent in recent memory to the PSAC Outdoor Championships.
The 2011 season resembled the 2010 season in that Weiser saw several more Millersville records broken by his athletes. Brittany Yanora and Keith Ogden both broke two school records in the sprints/hurdles. Peter Hafer broke the schools hammer throw record four different times during the season and Elicia Anderson broke five school records, two in indoor and three in outdoor.
Weiser saw Anderson continue to grow in the 2011 season as she shattered several records, including two of former Millersville All-American Priscilla Jennings' records. Anderson became the second women under Weiser's tenure to compete at the indoor and outdoor national championships after competing in the cross country national championships in the same year. Anderson earned her first individual PSAC Championship and All-America honor in the 10K.
During the 2010 season, Weiser saw a number of Millersville records broken by his athletes. At the PSAC Outdoor Championships, Avery Webster shattered the school record in the hammer throw with a distance of 163’ 10”. In addition, the 4x100-meter relay team of Keith Ogden, Jeff Robinson, Stephen Boyd, and Anthony Adamski broke the Millersville record with a time of 41.93 seconds.
Landing a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 21.35 seconds, Weiser led freshman Jeff Robinson to a first-place finish in the 200 at the conference championships. Robinson became the first Millersville male athlete in six years to win a PSAC Championship, and the first to win the 200 in 14 years. Robinson went on to become the conference's Outdoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year. he is the first male Marauder to secure a postseason award since 2004.
At the 2009-10 PSAC Indoor Championships, Weiser saw Elicia Anderson set a new school record of 10:11.00 in the 3,000-meter run.
In 2009, Weiser guided All-American Pricilla Jennings to two outdoor PSAC Championship runs, as well as a trip to the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships.
That same year he saw Jennings and senior Michele Frayne to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, where Jennings placed sixth in the 5,000-meter run, and Frayne landed 13th in the heptathlon.
Under Weiser’s guidance, Denis Quirk hit an NCAA provisional mark in the javelin and placed at the 2008 PSAC Championships. Over his two years, six women and nine men field athletes qualified for the PSAC Championships with Weiser’s help.
Prior to his arrival at Millersville, Weiser served as an assistant at Kutztown, and Division I New Mexico State, Bucknell and Lafayette.
As a head coach, Wesier built NAIA member Wayland Baptist into a national power. In a span of three years, 51 of his athletes garnered All-American honors. The women’s program took second place at the 2007 NAIA indoor national championships, missing the title by just 1.33 points. The women’s team also cracked the top five the same year in the outdoor championships. His men’s squad finished in the top 10 at the indoor and outdoor national championships in 2005.
Three of Weiser’s athletes at Wayland Baptist won individual national championships and two relay teams won national titles.
Weiser was an outstanding collegiate athlete as well. He set the East Stroudsburg school record in the hammer throw and it stood 12 years until the spring of 2008.
