Katrina Brumfield enters her third season as an assistant coach for the track and field programs at Millersville. She brings experience in coaching and competition in the sport focusing primarily on jumps and sprints. Brumfield, currently working toward her master’s in education, is coming off her first coaching stint as a track and field assistant coach for Utica College (N.Y.). While at Utica, she helped develop and implemented new long, triple and high jump workouts.
In doing so, she guided conference champions in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and high jump. She also coached high jump, long jump and triple jump ECAC qualifiers’ all in her first year of coaching.In her first season at Millersville (2010-11), Brumfield guided the jumpers to the PSAC Indoor and Outdoor Championships. In the indoor season she guided four jumpers to the championships. During the outdoor season six men and five women made the championships in jumps including four men and five women in the long jump event.
As an athlete, Brumfield was a member of the track and field team at Mansfield University from 2005-08. From 2006-08, she was awarded team captain honors by her coaches and teammates. She holds Mansfield’s indoor and outdoor high jump records.
In 2005, Brumfield was the PSAC Outdoor High Jump runner-up. Two years later she qualified for the Division II National Indoor Championships in high jump.
In 2008, she collected PSAC Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Most Valuable Championships Athlete honors on top of obtaining Winter and Spring Athlete of the Year.
Brumfield earned her bachelor's degree in mass communication with an emphasis in broadcasting and public relations at Mansfield in 2008.
