Field Hockey

Sarah Dickinson
- Title:
- Volunteer Assistant
Dickinson finished her first season as a volunteer assistant field hockey coach for Shelly Behrens in 2012. Dickinson helped coach the goalies and defensive players and her assistance made immediate effects. Goalkeeper Lauren Sotzin helped lead the Marauders to the most team shutouts in program history.
During her four year career here at Millersville, the Lancaster Mennonite product was a rock in goal for the Marauders, starting 71 of 72 career games in which she played. Over that time span, Dickinson stopped 499 shots on goal and compiled a career 2.04 goals against average.
In addition to her outstanding statistical achievements, Dickinson was also well-decorated. As a four-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, she exemplified the term "student-athlete." Her play on the field was recognized as well as she was named the PSAC East Rookie of the Year in 2008 and named to the All-PSAC East Second Team as a senior in 2011.
Further awards include a nod to the NFHCA Division II All-Academic Squad as a freshman, sophomore and senior; being named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA College Division District 2 All-Academic Third Team At-Large; and being honored as a member of the Capital One Academic All-District 2 At-Large First Team as a junior in 2010.
Dickinson graduated from Millersville in the Spring 2012 semester with a bachelor's degree in psychology. Her entire family is full of Millersville products. Both of her parents attended the university, as did her older sister. Sarah's younger sister, Rachel, is aiming to be one of the top players in the conference for the Marauders in 2012, a year after winning the PSAC East Rookie of the Year and the Womensfieldhockey.com Rookie of the Year.
