Casey Horning

Casey Horning, entering her sixth season on staff in 2014, has assisted in the turnaround of the field hockey program along side head coach Shelly Behrens. Over the last two seasons, the Marauders have made two appearances in the PSAC Championship, winning the title in 2013. The 2013 club also set a school record for wins (19) and advanced to the NCAA Division II Semifinals for the first time ever.

After an outstanding collegiate career at Louisville, the Bird-in-Hand, Pa., native returned to Lancaster County to serve as assistant coach for the Millersville field hockey program.

Horning, a Conestoga Valley graduate, helped Louisville to a pair of Big East Championships and finished her career tied for fifth in career goals with 26. She also ranked ninth in career points with 59. Following the 2007 season, she was named the team's Most Outstanding Senior. 

Also an standout student, Horning was named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad four times. She was a two-time All-Big East Academic All-Star Team member. In six of her semesters, she achieved a 4.0 GPA. Horning was also the recipient of the Harold C. Yeager Award for highest GPA in the sociology department and winner of the Kenneth R. Nally Award for overall excellence in justice administration and community. 

Horning graduated magna cum laude with bachelor degrees in justice administration and sociology in 2008. She also recevied a master's degree from the Millersville School of Counseling in 2012. 

While the 2009 season was Horning's first coaching at the collegiate level, she spent 2008 as a coach in the Lampeter Strasburg School District, and also coached a pair of U-16 teams for the Lanco Premier Field Hockey Club in Lancaster, Pa.

At the conclusion of her playing career, she was inducted into the Conestoga Valley Athletic Hall of Fame. 

Currently, Horning works for Compass Mark. She married Jeremy Horning in June of 2010.
