NCAA Atlantic/East Super Regional: Round One

Wilmington Grabs Round One Lead
Monday, May 7, 2012
Hershey, Pa. - With Paul Tighe and Jerry Temple, Jr., leading the way, Wilmington, the No. 1 seed from the East Region, grabbed the round one lead of the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional hosted at Hershey Country Club's East Course.
Rain slowed the 6,984-yard, par-71 track and made scoring conditions ultra-difficult. Tighe fired a 1-over-par 72, placing him in a three-way tie for first with Jordan Eck of California (Pa.) and Thomas Linehan of St. Thomas Aquinas. Tighe posted four birdes for a front-nine 34.
Wilmington's 17-over-par 301 total placed it just in front of Indiana (Pa.), which closed the opening round with a 307. The top five teams qualify for the NCAA Division II Championships, and the only seven shots separates seven teams between the second and seventh positions.
The super regional includes the top 10 teams from the East and Atlantic Region as well as the top four individuals from each region. It is a three-round event, and play continues Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.
