Lancaster, Pa. - Concord scored 11 runs on 12 hits to make Winston-Salem State the first team eliminated at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Saturday morning. Led by four hits from Jacob Mays, Concord rolled to an 11-3 win.
Mays also drove in three runs and three teammates added two RBIs apiece. WSS also totaled 12 hits, but could not put together a big inning against Concord starter Will Zuspan (5-2). Zuspan worked 7.1 innings, allowing three runs and striking out seven. WSS starter Tyler Hickernell (5-3) was chased after allowing five runs in three innings.
Concord, now 27-25, advances to play the loser of the Mercyhurst/Seton Hill game at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. WSS finishes its season at 30-26.
