Code of Conduct
The purpose of intercollegiate athletics is to provide an opportunity for the athlete to develop one’s potential as a skilled performer in an educational setting. As education seeks to provide ways in which the student grows emotionally, socially, and intellectually, so does the intercollegiate athletic program. Participation in athletics is a privilege provided by to you by the university, which you, as a student, have selected. Therefore, you must conform to all program policies established by the NCAA, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, and Millersville University.
All student-athletes must adhere to the following standards of conduct:
1. Strive for the highest degree of excellence in academics and athletics.
2. Treat players, officials, and coaches with respect and courtesy.
3. Respect and accept the decisions of the coach. If there are questions, address the concerns to the coach and if needed, to the athletic director.
4. Be grateful for the opportunity to participate and be willing to assist in all department areas.
5. Exhibit dignity and sportsmanship in manner and dress when representing the school.
6. Conduct themselves both on and off the field, in appropriate ways, as to promote a positive image of Millersville University and the student-athlete body.
7. Know and adhere to the PSAC policy on sportsmanship.
8. Refrain from the use of tobacco products while representing the university.
9. Refrain from the use of any drug not prescribed for medical purposes.
10. Prohibited from using, distributing any steroid or drug listed on the NCAA list of banned substances.
11. Refrain from the use of alcoholic beverages while representing the university.
12. Never physically abuse any university property.
13. Refrain from any hazing activity.
