EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The Millersville women's soccer team second half effort led them past the Warriors of East Stroudsburg, 2-1.
The Warriors established the tempo early in Saturday's afternoon match, scoring within the first two minutes. East Stroudsburg transitioned across the field and converted a shot from 15 yards out into the top left corner. Millersville attempted to respond when Isabel Coy intercepted a goal kick and connected with Caroline Wood, whose shot was saved by the Warriors' goalkeeper.
Millersville continued to create offensive opportunities as sophomore Maia Iannuzzi placed two shots on goal, followed by another attempt from Caroline Wood that was saved by the Warriors' goalkeeper. The Marauders earned a corner kick to close the first half, but Lia Francis's shot was stopped by the keeper. The half concluded with East Stroudsburg leading 1–0.
East Stroudsburg opened the second half with two early corner kicks that did not result in goals. Leading scorer Aubrey Strohecker attempted to even the score, but her shot was once again saved. Coy and Francis each followed with additional shots but were unable to capitalize.
In the 65th minute, Millersville broke through when Wood delivered a pass to Strohecker from the goal line. Her shot deflected off the crossbar and ricocheted to Francis, who converted the rebound to tie the match at 1–1.
Twenty minutes later, the Marauders took the lead as Strohecker connected with Livia Messenger for the game-winning goal—Messenger's first collegiate score. Millersville held strong over the final five minutes to secure a 2–1 victory.
The Marauders return home next Wednesday to begin their final three-game stretch, hosting Lock Haven at 7 p.m. With the win, Millersville remains fifth in the PSAC East standings with 15 points, sitting just two points behind Bloomsburg.

THOUGHTS FROM HEAD COACH MATT PROCOPIO
- How would you evaluate the determination shown by the girls in the second half to fight back and secure the victory? "We put ourselves in a situation by the way in which we started the game. It's always difficult to play two high intense games in the week, especially on the road. That aside, we adjusted things and responded well. We created a lot of opportunities and were able to get the win."
- How crucial is it to maintain and build on this momentum with just three games left in the season? "Massive. Every game is big but it's even bigger as we get to the end of the season. Can only play one at a time and we need to recover and reload again for Wednesday and repeat that again Saturday."
