2025 PSAC Softball Preseason Coaches Poll released

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.— The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) released its annual coaches poll for the upcoming softball season on Wednesday afternoon, and the Marauders came in at eighth in the PSAC East Division. East Stroudsburg was voted as the top team in the East while Gannon took the top spot in the West.
The Marauders were in contention for the PSAC Tournament until the season's final weekend in 2024 but fell just short and finished in sixth. From that team, 10 players have graduated and one more transferred while 10 freshmen and one sophomore transfer took their spots. In the field, the loss of All-PSAC selections Aleese Angelo, Gabby D'Ottavio, Gabi Turner and regular starters Marli Schreiner, Sam Fried and Taylor Campagna all leave holes to fill entering 2025. In senior Angelina Saverase and junior Nicolina Pezzone, Millersville returns 80.2 innings pitched of the team's 323.1 total from 2024.
While the list of departures is long, there's a lot of potential in the pieces that remain. Senior outfielder Kendra Bumgardner played all 49 games and had an excellent season as the team's leadoff woman and centerfielder, while junior Victoria Fuss hit .328 with a .900 OPS while playing a quality shortstop. Sophomores Carly Vaughn and Angelina Edwards each showed promise in their respective rookie campaigns and will look to build on that in extended playing time in 2025.
The debut of the 2025 edition of Millersville softball is scheduled for Feb. 8 at Goldey-Beacom. The team's return to Seaber Softball Stadium comes on Feb. 12, when they take on Jefferson at 1 p.m.
