ABOUT THE GAME

  • After winning back-to-back overtime games for the first time since 2002, Millersville takes its six-game winning streak to Kutztown on Wednesday. The Marauders have won 13 of the last 14, averaging 86.6 points per game while shooting 53% from the field and 40.5% from three. In those 14 games, Matt Dade has averaged 19.6 points per game, and Drew Stover has made 75.7% of his shots. Kutztown is 4-21 but 3-6 at home and is coming off a 75-72 win over Bloomsburg in which Jaiden McGhee and Brent Ricketts Jr. both scored 22 points.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • The Marauders have scored at least 80 points in six consecutive PSAC East games for the first time since 1992-93, and they’ve shot over 50% from the field in all six games. Millersville now ranks fourth in the PSAC in scoring offense (82.0). Millersville is also second in the PSAC and 15th in the Division II in field goal percentage. The Marauders also rank 14th in the nation in free thows attempted and 15th in free throws made. Individually, Jaden Faulkner is 14th in free throw attempts with 7.25 per game. Millersville is 12-0 when shooting 50% from the field and 14-1 when scoring at least 80 points.
  • Now shooting 72.6%, not only is Drew Stover inching closer to breaking a 39-year-old program record for field goal percentage, he has jumped to No. 2 in Division II, trailing Lincoln Memorial’s Martez Brown by just 0.6%. He is in position to become the fifth player in PSAC history to shoot over 70% in a season. The record is 72.7%, shared by Cheyney’s Harold Booker (1966) and Cal U’s Chad Scott (1994). Over the last six games, Stover is 44 for 54 (81.5%).
  • Faulkner was named PSAC East Athlete of the Week for the sixth time in his career on Monday after averaging 23.0 points, 6.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game. He’s topped 20 points nine times this season, but Millersville is just 6-3 in those games.  Among active Division II players, Faulkner is eighth in career assist average (4.88) and 12th in total assists. In the Millersville records, Faulkner now ranks 19th in career scoring with 1,397 points, fifth in assists with 445 (he’s 12 from third place), and ninth in steals with 140. Only four other players in program history rank in the top 25 in scoring and in the top 10 in both assists and steals. Three of those players are in the Millersville Athletics Hall of Fame.
  • Dade, averaging 17.7 points per game and 54.8% shooting, is in rare company. Only three players in Millersville history have averaged 17.0 points per game while shooting over 50% from the field in a season: Tommy Gaines ’89, Jon Dunmeyer ’93, and Lance Gelnett ’92.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN BEARS

  • Kutztown’s five leading scorers and top three rebounders are all freshmen. Jaiden McGhee leads the team with 12.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Amir Cunningham is shooting 49.4% from the field while leading the team in rebounding (6.1) and ranking second in assists (2.4). Kutztown ranks 16th in the PSAC in scoring (71.6) and 17th in scoring defense (84.8). Turnovers on offense have been an issue as the Golden Bears average 16.2 per game--the second-most in the PSAC. Their 0.73 assist/turnover ratio ranks 18th in the PSAC.
