ABOUT THE GAME

  • After cramming eight games into the first 17 days of the season, Millersville received a much-needed 10-day break and returns to Pucillo Gymnasium for a PSAC crossover back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday. From Nov. 13-23, Millersville played four of five games on the road, and through eight games, the team has had its opening game starting lineup available just three times. The Marauders went 3-0 in those games. All three of Millersville’s losses have come by single digits against teams that won at least 19 games in 2023-24. The well-rested Marauders now host a 7-2 Seton Hill squad that has won back-to-back games and a 6-3 Pitt-Johnstown team that is riding a four-game winning streak.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  •  Drew Stover has scored 20 or more points in six of eight games. He scored a season-high 26 against Slippery Rock and followed it with 23 against Dominican. He now ranks sixth in the PSAC in scoring average. He’s also ranked second in field goal percentage at 70.2%. Stover is also getting it done on the glass, ranking 10th in rebounding. He’s one of only two players in the PSAC ranked in the top 10 in both points and rebounds. Millersville is 4-0 when Stover has more than five rebounds. His 1.5 blocks per game is tied for fourth.
  • Saraj Ali has scored in double-figures in all seven games played and is coming off arguably his best game as a Marauder. Against Dominican, he posted season highs in points (22), rebounds (10), blocks (2) and minutes played (39). Ali’s two double-doubles are tied for the team lead.
  • Point guard Jahme Ested has played in just four games and played more than 18 minutes just twice, but the Marauders are 4-0 with him, and 1-3 without him in the lineup. Turnovers have been an issue for the Marauders lately, committing 18 or more in three of the last four games--all games without Ested in the lineup. Millersville is 5-1 when they have more assists than turnovers. Millersville shot over 51% from the field in losses to Jefferson and Dominican but had a total of 49 turnovers in those games.

SCOUTING THE GRIFFINS

  • Seton Hill is coming off a buzzer-beating win over Glenville State. The Griffins trailed 71-62 with two minutes to play, but Kedrick Curtis sank a three-quarters court shot at the buzzer for the win. Curtis is the team leader in points (14.6) and rebounds (7.6). Seton Hill holds the No. 1 scoring defense in the league at 64.1 points per game--nearly eight points better than any other team. They do it in part by limiting possessions. Teams are averaging just 60 field goal attempts per game--fewest in the PSAC. Seton Hill also ranks first in opponent field goal percentage (.395).

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN CATS

  • Pitt-Johnstown is a stark contrast in style to Seton Hill. The No. 3-ranked scoring offense in the PSAC averages 88.7 points per game, and is efficient, ranking third at 48.5% shooting. They also rank third in 3-point shooting at 36.6%. Sean Dillon’s 5.6 assists per game is third in the PSAC.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Millersville is 5-3 all-time against Seton Hill with four consecutive wins dating back to 2018. Seton Hill has not played at Millersville since the 2019-20 season, a game that Millersville won 64-61. Four of the last five meetings have been at Seton Hill. Seton Hill is 1-2 all-time in Pucillo Gymnasium, with the lone win coming by a 92-77 score in 2015-16--the season before Casey Stitzel arrived at Millersville. Last season, Millersville won 78-71 behind 26 points from Drew Stover.
  • Pitt-Johnstown has had Millersville’s number through the years, holding a 9-4 lead in a series that dates to 1995-96. Pitt-Johnstown has won all six match-ups since joining the PSAC in 2014-15, including three in a row in Pucillo Gymnasium. Millersville is just 1-5 at home against Pitt-Johnstown. Millersville’s last win over UPJ came in the 2008 NCAA Tournament.
