Marauders settle for a draw against East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - A hard fought battle between the Millersville Marauders and East Stroudsburg Warriors ends in a 0-0 draw. 

With the post season quickly approaching, every result matters and with after the draw the Marauders sit at 4-2-1 in the PSAC, 7-6-1 overall. 

Defense played a pivotal role for both teams throughout the match. In the first half, Marauders held the Warriors to just four shots on goal, with one save by Jake Van Vorhees. Marauders had a handful of offensive opportunities in the first half with two shots by Louis Wright and one by Michael Dempsey

Millersville continued the pressure with five more shots on net in the second half, though Warriors goalkeeper, Kevin Kretschman, blanked the Marauders. 

With three games remaining, Millersville returns to Pucillo Field to host the Golden Rams of West Chester on Oct.30 at 7:00 p.m. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Jake Van Vorhees faced a season high 14 shots against, but managed to collect his sixth clean sheet of the season. 
  • The series program between these two programs moves to, 22-46-8
  • The Warriors out shot the Marauders 15-8.

THOUGHTS FROM HEAD STEVE WIDDOWSON
  • On the match: "It was a hard fought match by both teams and it could have gone either way. Both teams were battling and trying to find a goal but at the same time both defenses were committed to keeping a shutout."
  • On success for the end of the season: "As we move forward we need to show the same commitment to defending but also find ways to create better scoring opportunities. That will be our objective for the last three games."
