ABOUT THE GAME

  • Winners of six in a row, Millersville returns home where it is 9-1 and outscoring teams by nearly 10 points per game. Millersville’s current winning streak is tied with Lock Haven for the longest active streak in the PSAC. This is Millersville’s fourth winning streak of six or more games in the last three seasons. Before that, Millersville had not had a winning streak of at least six games since 2007. The Marauders were voted No. 6 in Monday’s D2CSC Atlantic Region Poll.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • Millersville has won four consecutive games by double-figures and six of its last seven wins have come by at least 12 points. During the six-game winning streak, Millersville is averaging 84.8 points per game, out-scoring teams by 18.7 points per game and shooting 52.7% from the field, 44.0% from three and 75.4% from the line with 16.2 assists per game. Those last six opponents have been limited to 66.2 points per game on 42.1% shooting from the field, 28.9% from three with 10.8 assists per game. Matt Dade has averaged 20.3 points per game over the last six. Drew Stover, who leads the PSAC in both blocked shots (1.5) and field goal percentage (.702) has connected on 73.3% of his shots and 20 of 21 free throws during the winning streak. Day Waters, fifth in the league in 3-point shooting, has drilled 13 of 24 threes in that stretch.
  • Millersville is now 10-0 when leading at halftime, but the team’s second-half performances have been stellar. Since shooting 25% and scoring 28 points in the second half of the loss at Mercyhurst, Millersville has shot 56% of higher in the second half of four of the last six, topping 60% shooting three times. Over the course of the season, Millersville has averaged 42.5 points on 50.4% shooting from the field in the second half. By comparison, the team has averaged 35.8 points on 46.1% shooting in the first half of games.
  • While Millersville’s offense has been incredibly efficient during the winning streak, it’s defense has held the last three opponents to 55.0 points per game. Drew Stover won his first PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week Award two weeks ago, and Day Waters won his first on Monday after averaging 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game wins over Shepherd and Mansfield. He matched career highs with nine boards and three blocks against Shepherd.
  • At Mansfield, Jaden Faulkner became the sixth player in program history and first since Charlie Parker in 2008 to record 400 career assists. His 2023-24 average of 5.2 per game would make him one of eight players to average over 5.0 assists in a season. Millersville is 57-25 (.695) in games that Faulkner has played and 26-8 (.765) when he records six or more assists. Faulkner scored 21 points at Mansfield, giving him 21 games of 20-plus points in his career. Millersville is 14-7 (.667) in those games.

Kutztown has made fewer threes than any other team in the PSAC ,averaging 5.1 per game.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The series between Millersville and Kutztown dates back to 1904, and Millersville has played Kutztown more than any other opponent. It’s been a closely contested rivalry over the last four seasons with Millersville holding a 6-3 edge, but five of those games were determined by single-digits. Recent games in Pucillo Gymnasium have been particularly exciting. Last season, Kutztown pulled off an 89-88 upset at Millersville using 27 points each from Jalen Bryant and Robert Tucker, scoring 56 points on 69% shooting in the second half. In 2022, a 20-4 Millersville team edged 7-16 Kutztown at home 74-72. Strangely, the last two games played at Kutztown, Millersville won by a combined total of 45 points.
