ABOUT THE GAME

  • Wednesday’s game in Greensburg features teams with identical overall (8-3) and PSAC (3-2) records. Millersville has won four of its last five and is coming off an impressive 99-78 win over previously undefeated and No. 11-ranked Gannon. Seton Hill has played just three home games (2-1) while Millersville is 1-2 in its three road games, and the Marauders are scoring 13 fewer point per game on the road (68.0) while shooting 43.8% from the field and 28.9% from three compared to a .481/.352 split at home. Seton Hill is coming off back-to-back wins over PSAC East foes, beating Mansfield at home (74-70) on Dec. 19 and winning at Bloomsburg (84-69) on Dec. 30. Millersville is 8-21 in road games vs. the PSAC West since the mandated crossover schedule began in 2013-14. Casey Stitzel is 7-13 on the road vs. the PSAC West.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • Impressively, Millersville and undefeated Cal U are the only teams in the PSAC to rank in the top five in both scoring offense and scoring defense. The Marauders rank fifth in both categories while also ranking fourth in scoring margin. Millersville has climbed to No. 3 in the PSAC in shooting percentage (.470), and its 66% shooting against Gannon on Saturday was the best by a Marauder team since Jan. 15, 2022.
  • Matt Dade scored a career-high 34 points, making 3-of-4 threes and 9-of-10 free throws in the win over Gannon. Now averaging 16.8 points per game, Dade ranks 10th in the PSAC in scoring. Jaden Faulkner is eighth at 17.1 points per game, making Millersville the only team in the league with two players ranked in the top 10 in scoring average. Faulkner is tied for second in assists at 5.4 per game, which is on pace for the sixth-best single-season average in program history. Drew Stover’s .697 field goal percentage leads the PSAC. He’s on track to break John Fox’s single-season record of .642, which has stood since 1984-85.

SCOUTING THE GRIFFINS

  • Second-year head coach Ben Wilkins has quickly turned the fortunes of Seton Hill basketball as they won 16 games last season after winning three the season before he arrived. Seton Hill is already halfway to last season’s win total with an 8-3 start. Seton Hill has won four of its last five with three wins of at least 12 points in that stretch. Guard Ryan Meis is the leading scorer at 15.2 points per game, and he ranks fifth in the PSAC in 3-point shooting (.425), and his 37 made threes are tops in the conference. Drew Green and Caleb Whitaker both scored 20 points in Seton Hill’s most recent win.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Wednesday’s game is the fourth time in the last five meetings that Millersville has played at Seton Hill. Millersville won the last three games in the series as well as the last two games played in Greensburg (90-59 in 2018 and 75-63 in 2021). With only seven all-time meetings, Millersville has played Seton Hill fewer than any other PSAC opponent. The programs met just once before Seton Hill joined the PSAC in 2013-14. Seton Hill’s last win in the series came by an 84-76 score on Dec. 3, 2016, which was Stitzel’s first season at Millersville. The most recent meeting saw Jaden Faulkner score 24 points to go with six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Drew Stover and Jahme Ested combined for six minutes of playing time in that game, and they are the only current Marauders with prior experience playing at Seton Hill.
