MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Marauder bats were in mid-season form during Sunday afternoon's home-opening doubleheader as Millersville scored 19 runs in 10 innings to sweep Holy Family. The Marauders are now 3-1 this season while Holy Family falls to 0-2.
Alex Schaefer set the tone during game one, allowing just two hits through five innings pitched and striking out eight Tiger batters. The Marauder offense was hitting on all cylinders as well, scoring eight runs on eight hits and sending three over the outfield wall at Seaber softball stadium.
Marli Schreiner hit a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the fifth to give 'Ville the eight-run lead it needed for a run rule ending (eight-run lead after five innings played). More of the same followed in game two as
Morgan Crutcher picked up her first win of the season behind 11 runs from the 'Ville offense.
GAME ONE

Alyssa Stover got the day started for Millersville with an RBI single to left field that drove in
Kendra Bumgardner.

Victoria Fuss followed in the second innings with a solo shot to center field to put the Marauders up two.

Sam Fried continued the second-inning offense with a two-RBI single to left field that drove in Bumgardner and
Lacey O'Donnell.
Aleese Angelo followed Fried's hit with a two-run homer to center field, putting Millersville up six.
• Angelo recorded her third RBI of the game in the fourth, sending Fried home on a double to right field.
GAME TWO

Lacey O'Donnell shined in her second home game in black and gold, leading off and going 3-for-3 with four runs and an RBI.

Kendra Bumgardner and
Taylor Campagna hit home runs in back-to-back innings before
Allyson Black ended the game with a pinch-hit, two RBI single to right field that gave 'Ville an 11-3 lead in the fifth. Â
• The Marauders totaled 12 hits in game two coming from 10 different players.
• Crutcher threw four innings, allowing three hits, two earned runs and striking out five batters.
Mia Barone threw the final inning and recorded one strikeout.
