MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Aaron Maynard and Mike Kreider of Millersville University men's soccer have been named to the Academic All-America® by College Sports Communicators (CSC) after excellent seasons both on the field and in the classroom.
Maynard and Kreider are the 22nd and 23rd Marauders to be named CSC Academic All-America and become the first pair of teammates in Millersville history to win the award in the same season. They are just the second and third Millersville men's soccer players to earn this achievement. Maynard's older brother, Nathan, was the first student-athlete to receive this award for the program in 2020.
Maynard is a redshirt junior majoring in chemistry and boasts a 3.93 GPA. During his career with Millersville, he has started 62 games and is a two-time PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Year and two-time All-America selection. This season, his composure and leadership in the backfield held opponents to just 17 goals, and among his two goals was the gamewinner in the PSAC Championship match.
Kreider is a senior sports medicine major with a 3.99 GPA. In his four years with the program, Kreider has been a part of three PSAC Championship wins, playing nearly 7,000 minutes and tallying 10 assists and four goals. He has served as team captain and was previously an All-PSAC East Second Team performer.
The Academic All-America program began in 1970 with Millersville's first honoree coming in 1983. Of the 23 Marauders to earn the honor, 14 have been recognized in the last 10 years.
