HOW IT HAPPENED
•
Pili Zaballa's first goal of the season put Millersville on the board seven minutes into the first quarter as she redirected Lennon's shot off a penalty corner.
Qhayiya Nogoduka did the same on Wasserman's shot in the 25th minute.
• The Marauders broke open the game in the third quarter when
Kortlin Yetter and freshman
Emma Ruley both scored in a span of just over three minutes. Bollinger's extra effort pushed the ball through traffic to Yetter, who tallied her first goal of the season. Ruley scored one-on-one against Adelphi's goalkeeper, following her initial shot off the pads with a second effort. Strickland capped the scoring, corralling a loose ball before finding the back of the cage.
POSTGAME REACTION FROM SHELLY BEHRENS
•
On the team's performance: "I thought at times we fought ourselves energy-wise. From the third quarter on we had some great combinations. Now we know what it's like to play a mid-week game. I'm happy with the game. We keep learning and getting better."
•
On the fast start: "I think (Adelphi is) a dangerous team and their corners are dangerous. We changed some things structure-wise. I needed to see what our team can do, so we changed some things and they responded. I have great faith in our defense, and we were able to give some players some experience late in the game."
•
On five goals from five players: "I think there is some versatility within us. Credit the players for that. Some players are sacrificing minutes here and there for others. Versatility on the field, finishing, I saw some great second and third efforts today. That's what makes us Millersville. Especially at home, we value that. It's about selflessness. Anything I asked them to do, they made the adjustment."
