SHEPERDSTOWN, Wv. – The Millersville University softball team (20-24, 8-8 PSAC) split their doubleheader against the Shepherd Rams (16-18, 9-7 PSAC) on Saturday, dropping game one 5-1 before bouncing back for a 9-6 win in game two.

The Marauders will miss out on the PSAC tournament as East Stroudsburg (33-9, 8-8 PSAC) owns the tiebreaker between the two programs and will be the five seed in next week's conference tournament. The Marauders are the lone team in either division to finish with a winning percentage of .500 or better in PSAC action and not qualify for the postseason.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: Shepherd 5 – Millersville 1
- The Rams jumped ahead 3-0 in the first while recording a pair of hits off of Alex Schaefer.
- Shepherd added another run in the second and sixth inning, taking a 5-0 lead into the seventh.
- The Marauders got on the board in the final frame after Alexis Harkins scored on a sacrifice fly from Aleese Angelo. Harkins and Gabi Turner each had doubles for the Marauders, as 'Ville recorded five hits in the loss.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Schaefer fell to 9-9 after allowing five runs (three earned) over her complete game in the circle, walking one batter while picking up five strikeouts.
- Shepherd outhit Millersville eight to five.
GAME TWO: Millersville 9 – Shepherd 6
- The Marauders, looking to snap a five-game losing streak, came out swinging in the first, recording a pair of hits in the frame. Marli Schreiner gave 'Ville its first lead of the day on a bases loaded walk, plating Angelo.
- Shepherd quickly responded, scoring four in the bottom of the first off of Morgan Crutcher.
- Millersville answered with a crooked number of its own in the second, scoring seven runs on six hits while crushing three home runs in the frame. Angelo opened the big inning with a two-run home run to right center. Alyssa Stover added on with a three-run blast to left center. Harkins finished the scoring with a solo shot to right center, putting the Marauders ahead 8-4 after the first inning and a half of play.
- Shepherd cut the Marauder lead to three after scoring a run in the third.
- Angelo again delivered in the fifth with an RBI single, putting 'Ville ahead 9-5. The Rams got one back in the seventh off of Schaefer, who had entered after Crutcher went the first six innings. She was able to settle in and record her third save of the season, securing the split for the Marauders.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Crutcher improved to 9-10 in the circle as she went six innings, allowing five earned runs while picking up a pair of strikeouts.
- Schaefer ends the season tied with Crutcher for the team lead in wins with nine, while leading the team in saves with three.
- The Marauders outhit the Rams 13 to 10.
- Angelo, Stover, and Hunter Little led the 'Ville offense with three hits each. Angelo and Stover also led in RBIs with three a piece while Angelo and Breanna Clayton each scored twice.Â
PROGRAM RECORDS AND PSAC RANKINGS
- Little led the PSAC in walks with 44 on the season, easily the most in single season program history. She ends her career with 86 total free passes, the most in program history as she climbed the entire top-10 during her historic campaign. She sits five walks ahead of Shaina Briel '09 who recorded 81 walks during her career. Littles' .512 OBP ranked fourth in the PSAC this season while finishing third in hit by pitches with 11.
- Angelo finished second in the conference in doubles with 15, while tying for third in home runs with nine. She was also ninth in walks with 18. Angelo's 15 doubles are good for a tie of third place in single season program history.
- Turner finished second in the PSAC in home runs with 10 and ninth in RBIs with 36. She was also fifth in walks with 22. Her 36 RBIs ranks ninth all time in single season program history. Her 21 career home runs rank third in program history behind just Faith Willenbrock (48) and current assistant coach Rebecca Blatt (28).
