BOWIE, Md. – The Millersville University softball team (18-18, 6-2 PSAC) was swept by the Bowie State Bulldogs on Wednesday afternoon as the Marauders saw their record fall back to .500 on the season.

Millersville was shutout in game one and fell behind 5-0 in game two before closing the gap in the late innings, dropping the tail end of the doubleheader by a final of 5-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: Bowie 3 – Millersville 0
- Two runs in the fourth was all the Bulldogs would need to pick up the win against Breanna Clayton. Clayton went the first four innings, striking out a season high eight batters while scattering three hits.
- Millersville recorded just three hits, two of which came off the bat of right fielder Taylor Campagna. The other hit was a single from Kendra Bumgardner.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Clayton threw a season high four innings while picking up a season high eight strikeouts.
- The Marauders were shut out for the sixth time this season.
GAME TWO: Bowie 5 – Millersville 4
- Bowie State again struck first, scoring a pair of runs off of Bumgardner in the second. The bulldogs would add another three runs on reliever Angelina Saverase, going ahead 5-0 after five.
- The Marauders finally got on the board in the sixth, scoring three runs on two hits while capitalizing on a pair of Bulldogs errors. Gabby D'Ottavio opened the scoring with an opposite field double, plating Hunter Little and Gabi Turner. Taylor Lenker added the third Marauder run when she reached on an error, extending the inning while Marli Schreiner scored another unearned run for 'Ville.
- Turner pulled an RBI single in the seven, scoring Clayton and cutting the deficit to one. Pinch runner Bry Spoerl was thrown out at third on the play while attempting to advance two bases on the Turner knock. The game ended with the tying run on first base one batter later.Â

- Bumgardner fell to 0-3 with the loss.
- Bowie outhit Millersville seven to six.
- Aleese Angelo led he Marauder in hits with two.
