Millersville comes from behind in game two to win series

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - For the second day in a row, Millersville mounted a late-game rally to edge East Stroudsburg. Pete Vaccaro's RBI single in the top of the seventh, and Sam Morris' three shutout innings on the mound helped the 21st-ranked Marauders to a 7-6 win over No. 29 East Stroudsburg in game two of Saturday's doubleheader. The Warriors won Saturday's opener by a 7-5 score.

The game two rally secured the eighth-straight series win for the Marauders (22-6, 8-1 PSAC East) over East Stroudsburg (22-8, 5-4 PSAC East)--a streak that dates back to 2014. Millersville scored nine runs in the seventh inning or later in the three games vs. the Warriors.

Bren Taylor totaled five hits, two runs and two RBIs in Saturday's doubleheader. Millersville totaled 17 hits in the game two victory, including 12 from the first five hitters in the lineup. Jimmy Losh, who had a hit in game one, went 3-for-5 with homer in the nightcap.

GAME ONE
• While Millersville overcame a three-run deficit in game two, it fell too far behind to mount a similar comeback in game one. East Stroudsburg chased 'Ville starter Jeff Taylor in the top of the third, and while Andrew Mayhew and Will Conroy combined to allow one run over 3 2/3 innings, ESU's 7-1 lead proved too great.
• The Marauders trailed by five entering the seventh, and Chase Simmons and Vaccaro recorded back-to-back run-scoring hits to get Millersville within three. With two outs and Vaccaro on third, Taylor singled to left, bringing the tying run to the plate. ESU reliever Mike Yates, however, notched his second save of the season by getting Thomas Caufield to fly out to right.

GAME TWO
• A three-run home run from Brainy Rojas gave the Warriors a 6-3 lead in the fourth inning, but Millersville chipped away, getting a solo shot from Losh in the top of the fifth, and a run on Tyler Wright's single in the sixth. In the seventh, the first five Marauders to the plate recorded a hit. Luke Trainer's infield single was enough to score Taylor from third, tying the game at 6-6. After a Keegan Soltis single to right, Vaccaro, with the bases loaded pulled an 0-1 pitch between the first and second basemen. Caufield scored to put Millersville on top.
• Morris came to the mound for Millersville in the bottom of the seventh and quickly set down three-straight Warriors. ESU put two on in the eighth, but Morris produced back-to-back flyouts to end the threat. Morris retired the Warriors in order in the ninth for his fourth save of the season.
• Morris surrendered just one hit and struck out two. Nate Young (4-0) picked up the win with 2 2/3 quality innings out of the pen, striking out four with one run allowed.

NOTES
• Morris has made four-straight appearances without allowing a run. In those four games, he's totaled 8 2/3 innings with 11 strikeouts, no walks and four hits allowed.
• Bren Taylor has recorded two or more hits in five of the last six games.

UP NEXT
• After three games against nationally-ranked East Stroudsburg, Millersville collides with the Seton Hill Tuesday at the Altoona Curve's Peoples Natural Gas Field. Seton Hill is the highest-ranked PSAC team, coming in at No. 17 in last week's poll.
