Defense falters as Marauders fall to Seton Hill

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Millersville Marauders dropped their Sunday morning matchup against Seton Hill by a final of 11-4. The Marauders originally had a double header scheduled, but their contest against West Virginia Wesleyan was canceled due to issues with umpire scheduling.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Seton Hill struck first, scoring a run in the top of the first inning off of Marauder starter Alex Schaefer. Schaefer would allow five runs (four earned) over 3 1/3 innings of work, striking out three while giving up five hits.
  • The Marauders took their only lead of the game in the second inning as Millersville plated two, going ahead 2-1. Alexis Harkins came through with a two-run blast to center, scoring Hunter Little.
  • The Griffins took the lead for good in the third as Seton Hill responded with two runs of their own, taking a 3-2 lead. The Griffins put another two runs on the board in the top of the fourth, adding to their total.
  • Millersville again responded, scoring one in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Gabby D'Ottavio, as Little scored her second run of the game.
  • A five run fifth by Seton Hill would put the game out of reach as the Griffins went ahead 10-3.
  • Little would again lift the Marauder offense as she hit an RBI double down the left field line, scoring Kendra Bumgardner and cutting the deficit to six.
  • Seton Hill would score again in the sixth, adding to their total for the fourth consecutive inning. The 11-4 score would hold over the final frame as Millersville was unable to bounce back after the big fifth inning by Seton.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Only four of the 11 Seton Hill runs were earned, as the Marauders committed nine errors in the loss.
  • Little led the charge for Millersville, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI.
