MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville softball team (12-14) split their Wednesday doubleheader against Chestnut Hill College, dropping game one by a final of 10-2 before rebounding in game two, winning 5-3 to split the doubleheader.

Millersville gave up a season high 15 hits in game one before
Morgan Crutcher stepped up in game two, throwing her fifth consecutive complete game in the circle. Crutcher would strike out a career high nine batters in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: Chestnut Hill 10 – Millersville 2 (Five Innings)
- The Griffins jumped out to a 6-0 lead, scoring two runs in each of the first three innings of play.
- Millersville got on the board in the fourth, as shortstop Sam Fried drove in Gabby D'Ottavio on a single to center.
- A four run fifth inning put the Marauder comeback out of reach as Chestnut Hill went up 10-1.
- Millersville plated a run in the fifth when Bryn Spoerl scored on a wild pitch, but the Marauders could not find the rally needed to avoid the mercy rule loss.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kendra Bumgardner fell to 0-2 in the circle after allowing four runs in 1 1/3 innings of work.
- The Griffins outhit the Marauders 15 to three. Aleese Angelo, Alexis Harkins and Fried recorded the lone Marauder hits.
- Angelo reached base three times, with a double and a pair of walks.
- The 15 hits allowed set a new season high for Marauder pitchers.
- This was the first mercy rule loss of the season for the Marauders.
GAME TWO: Millersville 5 – Chestnut Hill 3
- Millersville struck first, plating three runs in the third. Fried opened the scoring with a double to center, bring Angelo around to score as Millersville took its first lead of the doubleheader. D'Ottavio added to the Marauder lead with a two-run home run to left.
- Crutcher started in the circle for Millersville, throwing three scoreless innings to begin her outing. The Griffins would tie the game in the fourth, scoring three runs on four hits. Crutcher was able to leave the bases loaded, avoiding further damage.
- The tie wouldn't last long, as the Marauders retook the lead in the fifth on an RBI double from Angelo. Millersville added another run on a single by Fried, going ahead 5-3.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Crutcher went the distance in the circle, tossing her fifth consecutive complete game as her record improved to 5-6 with the win. She scattered seven hits and threw six shutout frames as her only trouble came in the three run third inning. Crutcher also picked up a career high nine strikeouts while walking just one batter.
- Both teams recorded seven hits, while the Griffins committed three errors and Millersville had just one error defensively.
- Angelo, D'Ottavio and Fried all had multi-hit games for the Marauders.
- 'Ville is now 9-3 all time against Chestnut Hill.
