11 Marauders Named to NFHCA 2021 Academic Squad

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Millersville Field Hockey team contributed 11 Marauders to the Division II National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic Squad. This award is given to student-athletes who attained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2021-22 academic year.

Over 540 student-athletes from 35 Division II institutions received this honor. Millersville's recipients include Hannah Brown, Meredith Fagan, Taylor Geisel, Caroline Griffin, Farai Kawonde, Sol Ortiz-Kreiner, Qhayiya Nogoduka, Kate Strickland, Kristin Strijdom, Georgia Werkiser, and Pilar Zaballa.

Brown, Fagan, Kawonde, and Werkiser were honored as fourth year recipients. Geisel and Zaballa have awarded for a third year. Nogoduka, Strickland, and Strijdom are two-time honorees, while Griffin and Ortiz-Kreiner are first-time honorees.

The NFHCA will be announcing the Scholar's of Distinction list on February 16th, followed by the Team Academic awards on February 21st, and the National Scholar-Athlete on February 23rd.
