11/2/2022 7:35:00 AM

  • Millersville's 2021 Finish: 11th/18 (282 points)
  • 2021 Champion: Edinboro (61 points)
  • ‘Ville’s first championship meet: 1980 (8th)
  • ‘Ville’s top finish: 2nd (1989, 192, 1994)

ABOUT THE MEET

  • The Millersville women's cross country team travels to Mansfield for the 2022 PSAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 5. Millersville is looking to continue its recent trend upward. The Marauders placed 11th out of 18 teams last season for its best finish since 2011.
  • This is the first time since 2014 and the second time ever that the meet has been held at Mansfield. Millersville finished 13th in the previous trip to Mansfield behind All-PSAC finishes from Shannon Cruz (18th) and Abigail Daley (30th).
  • The race will be run at Lamb's Creek Cross Country Course in Mansfield. There is a $5 parking fee for visitors. Click here for the course map. The course record is 22:44.
  •  Morgan Janiuk is Millersville’s top runner and should make a run at All-PSAC honors (top 30). She placed 13th at the Lock Haven Invitational (Crimson race) as the No. 2 PSAC runner-up in the field with a time of 21:57.10—a PR and the fifth-fastest time in program history. It was the fastest time by a Marauder since 2013. Janiuk was not 100% for her 86th-place PSAC Championships finish in 2021, but she is coming off an outdoor track season in which she finished seventh in the 800 and fifth in the 1,500 at the PSAC Championships.
  • Abbey Sullivan will likely be Millersville’s No. 2 runner. She ran a PR of 23:10.4 at the Lock Haven Invitational and placed 58th at last season’s PSAC Championships.
  • Kaycee McCullough was Millersville’s top finisher at the conference championships last season, placing 40th. McCullough has run in just three events this fall and recently finished 25th (sixth on the team) at the Lebanon Valley Invitational.
  • Millersville has seen strong finishes from sophomore Hannah Sweda and freshman Breia Mayes in recent weeks. Sweda placed 95th at the PSAC Championships as a freshman. She ran a career-best 23:55.3 at the Lock Haven Invitational earlier this year and was Millersville’s No. 3 finisher at the Lebanon Valley Invitational. Mayes was Millersville’s No. 4 finisher at Lebanon Valley and has consistently finished in the top five for the Marauders.
  • Kait Leister is the most veteran of the Marauders’ runners. She is competing in her third PSAC Cross Country Championships. She placed 66th last season and is coming off a 14th-place finish in the 10,000-meter run at the 2022 outdoor championships.
This is one of the hardest working groups we have had for cross country. Despite a few challenges, I believe this team is ready to perform well on Saturday. The hope of all season is to beat last year's result. At this point, we just need to go out and race to see how that hard work plays out.
Millersville Head Coach Andy Young
