ABOUT THE GAME

  • Millersville is in the PSAC Tournament for the 11th consecutive season and has advanced to the semifinals or beyond all 11 times. Tuesday's match-up between the Marauders and Bloomsburg Huskies is just the fourth time in those 11 seasons that Millersville has hosted a PSAC Tournament game at home. Millersville is 3-0 in PSAC Tournament home games.
  • Millersville has won four PSAC Championships including two under the direction of Shelly Behrens. Millersville won back-to-back titles in 1985 and 1986, and most recently, the Marauders won in 2013 and 2016. Millersville also reached the championship game in 2012, 2014 and 2015.
  • Millersville and Bloomsburg have not played in the PSAC Tournament since 2016. Millersville won that game at home by a 2-0 score on the way to winning the championship. Millersville has won the last three PSAC Tournament matchups against Bloomsburg and is 4-2 all-time in the postseason against the Huskies.
  • Millersville is 8-0 at home this season but has played only one home game since Oct. 21. Millersville outscored opponents 33-11 at home.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • Millersville is coming off a 1-0 win at Mansfield, and the Marauders closed the season by playing four of their last five games on the road. All four of Millersville losses came on the road, all four were by one goal and two were in overtime.
  • The Marauders have outscored their 18 opponents 51-18. The offense ranks right in the middle of the PSAC pack in shots, goals and assists.
  • Kate Strickland holds a one-goal lead in the PSAC scoring race. No Marauder has led the PSAC in scoring in the “Statcrew Era," which dates back to 2003. Strickland is just two goals shy of Dena Gockley's single-season school record set in 1994.
  • Pili Zaballa has had the hot hand of late, scoring a goal in three of the last four games including the game-winner. She also recorded two assists on Oct. 21 against Slippery Rock, giving her eight points in the last six games.
  • Bri Harsh has also scored at least one point in five-straight games. She's recorded an assist in three in a row.
  • Goalkeeper Kerstin Koons' three highest single season save totals have all been posted in the last three games. She's recorded 19 saves to three goals allowed. The shutout vs. Mansfield was Millersville's sixth of the season.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES

  • Bloomsburg earned the sixth and final berth to the PSAC Tournament with a 2-1 win over Slippery Rock in the final regular season game. Bloomsburg needed a third quarter goal from Aydan McFarland to pull off the win. The Huskies had lost three of their previous four games.
  • Bloomsburg has posted six shutouts and allowed opponents to score more than two goals just five times. The four teams to score four goals against the Huskies are also the top four seeds in the PSAC Tournament. Goalkeeper Abby Shaffer allows just 1.50 goals per game and holds an impressive .824 saves percentage which ranks second in the PSAC. She also ranks second in shutouts.
  • While the defense has been strong, the offense has scored just 26 goals, which is ninth in the 10-team PSAC. Meghan Longenhagen is the team leader with seven goals.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Millersville and Bloomsburg have a long history, and while Bloomsburg controlled the series from 1990-2011, Millersville has been the dominant team of late. After snapping Bloomsburg's 30-game winning streak in the series in 2012, Millersville has won 13 of the last 15 including 10 in a row from 2012-2017. History says that Saturday's game will come down to the finish. The teams have played into overtime eight times since 2010 and 10 of the last 13 games (including five of the last six) have been decided by just one goal.
  • The Last Meeting: Millersville 4, Bloomsburg 2 (Sept. 30, 2022): Georgia Werkiser assisted on the Marauders' first and third goals and scored the team's second goal. Kate Strickland scored twice on three shots. Bloomsburg held a 12-11 advantage in shots and was the first team in 2022 to hold an edge in corners against Millersville (8-6).
