Marauders roll past Mansfield, 5-0

MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Millersville women's soccer team completed a season-series sweep over Mansfield on Wednesday afternoon with a 5-0 victory over the Mountaineers. The Marauders scored four of those goals in the second half, much like their victory over Mansfield earlier this season when they recorded six second-half scores. Millersville outscored the Mountaineers 11-0 during the teams' two matchups this season.

Millersville came out of the gate slow, not recording a shot until after the 11' that was on-goal and saved by the Mountaineer keeper. The Marauders then saw another 14-minute gap without a shot, while Mansfield recorded two in that time that were off-target. In the 26', following the drought, Palina Jordan broke the scoreless tie with an unassisted goal to give 'Ville the first lead of Wednesday's match.

Head coach Matt Procpio's group came out of the halftime break on fire, scoring on three of the team's first four shot attempts. Savannah Rennix scored the Marauders' second goal early in the 51', she was assisted by Kylie Sullivan. Just six seconds after the Rennix score, Leisher would push the Black and Gold lead to three with a goal of her own. The Marauders weren't done yet as Morgan Winchock found the back of Mansfield's net less than two minutes later, giving the Marauders a commanding four-goal lead with just under 40 minutes remaining.

Emma Elwell would score an unassisted goal in the 86', completing the five-goal rout.

POSTGAME REACTION FROM HEAD COACH MATT PROCOPIO
Overall thoughts on the win: "We started a bit slow and had to sort some things out at halftime, but we were able to convert out chances in the second half."

On the offensive performance: "It was good to see the ball hit the back of the net. It was also good to see goals from multiple players."
