MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville men's soccer team suffered its second loss of the season Saturday night to the visiting Bloomsburg Huskies. 'Ville jumped out to a 1-0 lead before giving up two unanswered goals late in first-half play, which led to a 2-1 final.
Zander Leik added to his team-high in goals by opening the scoring just after the 22:46 mark. The freshman received a pass from
Bob Hennessey at the top-right corner of Bloomsburg's box and made his way towards the goal line, dribbling through Husky defenders before firing a shot into the bottom right corner of the visiting net.Â
Bloomsburg would strike back towards the end of the half, recording two of their three shots on-goal in the eight minutes before halftime. The first goal came from Shay Gillen finding Alex Wilsterman for an equalizer in the 36'. The Huskies would build on the late-half momentum and move the ball back into 'Ville's box. Kody Besser, the Huskies' leading goal scorer, was able to track down a pass from Patrick Walsh at the 40:58 mark and score what ended up being the game-winning goal.
Following the loss, Millersville dropped to No. 4 in the PSAC East standings, while Bloomsburg jumped West Chester and now holds the top spot.
