Women's soccer season opener ends in a tie, 2-2

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville women's soccer team ended their season opener locked at two with Jefferson. This was the Marauders first home match since November of 2019.
This tie brings head coach Matt Procopio to 3-0-1 in home openers in his time at Millersville.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Millersville netminder, Reagan Kolinski logged 110 minutes of play in her first appearance since 2019. The junior recorded five saves, and allowed two goals on 16 total shots from the Jefferson squad.
• Millersville (0-0-1) took their first lead of the year in the 12th minute of play, it came off the right foot of midfielder Rachel Leisher. The junior took a cross from fellow midfielder, Morgan Winchock and sent it into the back of the net for the first goal of the season.
• The Rams caught a break in the 42nd minute of play, when Lauren Downey was attempting to block a ball away from the goal. The ball deflected off Downey into the Millersville goal to even the game at one a piece.
• Jefferson would take the lead in the 53rd minute of play. Laural Erick took a pass from Megan McCully and scored to give the Rams their first lead of the 2021 season.
• The Marauders would strike back just a minute later with an equalizer. Savannah Rennix crossed a ball to Palina Jordan that she sent into the top-right corner of the goal.

• On tonight's performance: "For our first game back out in a long time playing in a high intense game that counts I think we did some good things and we have things we are still working on."
• On the outcome of the match: "Jefferson is a solid team. It was good to start the season off against a team like them. A tie is still a positive result especially against a team of their quality."
• On getting ready for Kutztown on Wednesday: "Lots of rest and recovery after a lot of high intense minutes that we have not had in a while. We will immediately begin to focus on them over the coming days."
