
Dining with Champions award winners to be recognized April 29

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The best of Millersville University Athletics will be recognized Thursday, April 29 as part of the 2021 virtual Dining with Champions. The winners of the six annual awards were officially announced Monday.
The awards and winners are: Female Career Achievement Award, Faith Willenbrock (Softball); Male Career Achievement Award, Eric Callahan (Baseball); Distinguished Scholar-Athlete, Ben Fellman (Men's Tennis); Community Service Award, Millersville field hockey; Core Values Award, Millersville University Health Services; Faculty Mentor Award, Dr. David Henriques.
Millersville Athletics made the decision to hold the Dining with Champions celebration in a virtual format because of the ongoing pandemic. It is set for April 29 at 8 p.m. It is free to view, but all viewers must register online and will receive a link to log in to the interactive viewing experience. Along with award winner recognition, Millersville alum and current Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Tim Mayza will provide a message. A key component of the virtual Dining with Champions is the online auction, which opens on April 22. Auction items can currently be viewed here.
CAREER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Faith Willenbrock (Softball)
Faith Willenbrock is unquestionably the greatest power hitter to put on cleats for Millersville softball. She broke the program's career home runs record as a freshman and has gone on to establish records for single-season home runs, career RBIs, career slugging percentage, and she may finish with the program's best career batting average. Willenbrock is a two-time All-Atlantic Region selection. She led the PSAC in home runs in both 2018 and 2019. After graduating with a degree in criminology in May, Willenbrock, who spent the last four years as a member of the Millersville ROTC, will join the United States Army.
CAREER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Eric Callahan (Baseball)
After his senior season was stolen away by the COVID-19 pandemic, Eric Callahan decided to return to Millersville for his fifth season as the program's starting shortstop. He's helped the Marauders to three NCAA Atlantic Regional appearances and a PSAC East title. In 2019, Callahan led the PSAC in assists and led all shortstops in fielding percentage while also setting the program's record for home runs by a shortstop. He was named All-PSAC East First Team, becoming one of just six Marauder shortstops to be named to the first team.
DISTINGUISHED SCHOLAR-ATHLETE
Ben Fellman (Men's Tennis)
Excelling on and off the court, Ben Fellman has achieved a 4.0 GPA in meteorology while balance life as a student-athlete. He is a two-time PSAC Champion Scholar, a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, a winner of the prestigious PSAC Top 10 Award in the spring of 2020, and he was named CoSIDA Academic All-District in 2020. He has also served as the president of Millersville's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. On the court, Fellman led the men's tennis team to an incredible turnaround as the Marauders qualified for the PSAC Tournament in 2019 and 2021 and was 5-0 when the 2020 season was canceled.
COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD
Millersville University Field Hockey
During the darkest times of a pandemic lockdown, the Millersville field hockey team got creative to encourage exercise, interactivity and learning new skills by creating a virtual field hockey clinic through the use of its social media channels. Each day, a student-athlete created an instructional video, showcasing a variety of skills that young athletes could practice in their homes, driveways and yards with minimal equipment. The program's creativity and execution of the program were well-received and appreciated by the community.
CORE VALUES AWARD
Millersville University Health Services
The Core Values Award is presented to those who exemplify the core values of the Millersville University Athletic Department through everyday actions. The MU Health Services team has been on the front lines of University's battle against COVID-19 all year. Their courage, dedication and knowledge has helped keep the University functioning and safe this past year, and daily, they implement testing and monitor teams, trainers and officials. In the fall, Millersville student-athletes practiced safely in large part because of Health Services, and they play a vital part in keeping student-athletes in competition throughout the spring.
FACULTY MENTOR AWARD
Dr. David Henriques
Faculty play an important role in the experience of Millersville's student-athletes. They serve as teachers, advisors and mentors, and their cooperation is essential to the success of Millersville Athletics. Dr. Henriques has been a tremendous resource and advocate for the student-athletes. As the exploratory program coordinator, he assists many student-athletes in selecting majors and determining career goals. He also assists student-athletes through changes in majors and help them keep on track academically.
