KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches announced the association's NCAA Division II Men's All-American Teams on Wednesday, Dec. 8 and redshirt freshman, Aaron Maynard, was selected to the third team. The defender was chosen as a member of the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region First Team on Tuesday.
Maynard is the first freshman in program history to receive All-American honors, and the eighth Marauder to be selected to an All-American team, with the most recent selection coming in 2015 courtesy of Midfielder, Jamie Vazquez. He was also only one of two freshmen selected to the three teams, the other being a first team selection out of University of Charleston (W. Va.), Alexis Ledoux.
Maynard was a staple on the Millersville back line this season, starting all 23 games for Head Coach Steve Widdowson and playing nearly 300 more minutes than the next Marauder. He led a defense than ended the season top-three in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in goals allowed. The defender also recorded six points off three scores and fired in 18 shots on the season, 13 of which landed on frame.
This year's NCAA Division II All-Americans will be formally recognized at the All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022 at the Kansas City Convention Center in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
