MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Ryan Davis' season-high 21 points led six Millersville players in double-figures as the Marauders closed 2021 with a 106-39 victory over Penn State Brandywine, coming within one point of the all-time program record for margin of victory.
Millersville's 67-point win was its largest since Nov. 27, 2006 when the Marauders beat Penn State Harrisburg, 116-48. The Marauders also surrendered their fewest points since 2012, when they held USciences to 34.
Davis hit 9-of-13 shots and also recorded four of the Marauders' 13 steals and did it all in just 17 minutes of playing time.
D'Marco Suggs, who got the starting nod in the place of the resting
Caden Najdawi, scored a career-high 13 points, including 11 in the first half when he made each of his first five shots from the field. Freshman
Drew Stover, making just his second appearance of the season, scored 17 points on 8-of-8 shooting
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
• Suggs scored six early points in helping the Marauders out to a 21-2 lead in the game's first 6:25--a run that included 17 unanswered by the Marauders. David entered at the 13-minute mark and quickly scored nine-straight Millersville points and finished with 13 in the first half. The Marauders continued to grow the advantage, and
Jahme Ested's 3-pointer with 38 seconds left pushed the halftime lead to 39 (55-16).
• Millersville dipped into its bench in the second half. With Najdawi and sixth-man
Mekhi Hendricks sitting out and no starter playing more than
James Sullivan's 24 minutes, six players played a season-high in minutes. Stover over-matched the smaller Penn State Brandywine frontline, going for 17 points and five rebounds in the 13 second-half minutes. Nine of Stover's points came as part of a 21-2 Millersville run that started with 11:17 left and ended at the 5:11 mark on a 3-pointer from Davis. The run pushed Millersville's led to 65, and the lead ballooned to 68 on
Kai Cipalla's two-hand jam with 2:21 to play.

POSTGAME REACTION FROM COACH CASEY STITZEL
• On setting goals for today's game: "We had three practices leading up to the game, working on the things we didn't do well in the first semester. For us, it's taking care of the ball, executing on offense and getting our defense back up to speed. We worked on that and got some guys in the game that we might need. With everything going on, you never know when you will need them. It was great to see Ryan have a good game and get his confidence back up. We accomplished a lot of things that we wanted to accomplish. We got the uniform on and were able to work on some things."
• On building confidence heading into PSAC East play: "The basketball gods probably did us a favor by cancelling the game just before Thanksgiving. At that time, we were playing well and didn't need it. The way the timing worked out, it was perfect. We can get our confidence back up and get back in uniform instead of having a three-week layoff before playing Shepherd. I challenged them to do is to not go out there and not play hard. And they played hard from the start. It allowed us to get some other guys some experience."
• On the performances of the bench players: "Getting in there helps. Look at Drew in the first half. He was a little hesitant and he was more aggressive in the second half. That experience helps. He's a talented player and a guy we hope can step in and help us. Credit the guys. Two years ago that would have been 12-12 with four turnovers, and a timeout and I would have had to get on them. We picked on the young guys to make sure they are ready to go when we need them in a tight game."
