Millersville blanks Seton Hill in PSAC Tournament tune-up

GREENSBURG, Pa. – With home PSAC Tournament game already clinched, the fifth-ranked Millersville field hockey team traveled to Seton Hill Saturday to close out the regular season, and the Marauders took care of business, winning 4-0.

Millersville (14-3, 7-3 PSAC) received a goal from four different players and held Seton Hill (1-15, 0-9 PSAC) without a shot for three quarters. It was a light day of work in goal for Millersville freshman Kerstin Koons who recorded her sixth shutout with two saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the first meeting of the season between the teams, Millersville totaled 10 goals on 60 shots but chances were not nearly as prevalent Saturday as Millersville finished with 20 shots--five in each quarter--and tallied 14 penalty corners. It took the Marauders more than 17 minutes to get on the board. The game's first goal came on Pili Zaballa's fourth of the season and an assist from Bri Harsh. The score stayed at 1-0 the remainder of the first half, and 4:26 into the third quarter, Kristin Strijdom boosted the Millersville lead to 2-0 on an assist from Kate Strickland
• The Marauders added a pair of late, fourth-quarter goals to extend the lead. With 4:02 left in the game, Hannah Brown scored her sixth of the season on an assist from Saige Shine. Keaghan Keracher tallied her seventh of his season less than three minutes later.
• All three of Seton Hill's shots came around a pair of penalty corners 47 minutes into the game.

REACTION FROM HEAD COACH SHELLY BEHRENS
• On the challenge of a long road trip: "I think we did well today, seeing some things well and great ideas. It was just a matter of having better energy, and yes, being sharper with our skill and execution."
• On positives from the game: "There were tons of positives from the whole roster. We got to do a few things in preparation for Tuesday, so it was good to score four goals and not give up any on the road."
• On playing a home playoff game Tuesday: "I am proud of this team for earning a PSAC playoff spot, and we love that we get to be at home. Truly, we love where we are and will look to extend our season."

NOTES
• Millersville's first round opponent will not be determined until IUP/Kutztown game is final Saturday night. Depending on various results around the conference, Millersville could draw Kutztown, IUP or Mansfield.
• Millersville improved to 19-0 all-time against Seton Hill and has won six in a row by shutout.
• Harsh's assist boosted her season point total to 33, which is tied for the fifth-most by a Marauder in a single season.
